Location: Private practice Consultation for herniated dis

The specialist took his time explaining my condition and treatment options. Left the practice feeling confident and reassured. Worth the 8 hour round trip to see him. I have recovered 100%. Best specialist consultation I have had so far.

Very affable, down to earth surgeon, who operated on me for 10 hours for a deep seated "skull base " tumour. I will be eternally grateful for the gift of life he has given me.

  • Question about Cervical spinal surgery

What is the recommended treatment for a cervical intraspinal synovial cyst at C7 - T1?

Depends on the symptoms for which the scan was done. If there is any signs of nerve irritation the cyst will require intervention possibly in the form of surgery. If it is neck pain - furher assessment to study the stability of the spine will need to be undertaken.
The answer to this question is obviously not straightforward.

  • I have , l 4/5 spinal stenosis . I can barely walk and frequently collapse due to spasm from back to knees . I seem to be getting weaker on standing . Cortisone injections have helped a little . So far , i have been adviced nothing more can be done safely . I would appreciate more positive help . Meanwhile i am trying to remain active .

Kind regards Mr Art Vink mitchell pk sa

    Dear Mr Vink
Dr Poonnoose sees public and private patients at FMC.
You will need a referral letter from your GP to be able to see him. If you have private health insurance you can see him in his private rooms.
If you are a public patient, you can see him in FMC clinics.
Dr Poonnoose is overseas and will not be back until 14th Jan. I suggest you get a referral in the meantime and we can go from there. I hope this helps.
    Regards
    Kerryn
