I have a small flat polyp and have just started warfarin and is somewhat stabilized being in the range of 2.8. What is the procedure if I have to have the polyp removed to go off warfarin for the operation?

It depends on the size of the polyp. If it’s very small, less than 5 mm, can be done on warfarin. Otherwise the warfarin will need to be stopped for 5 days before the procedure. Some people may need to be on clexane while off warfarin.

If the polyp is small I generally do not stop the Warfarin for it's removal. It also depends if diathermy is used for the polyp removal or not as hot snares have a higher chance of bleeding
