Endone is not a good drug for arthritis pain. Yes you should try to halve the dose, and progressively wean yourself off it if possible.

In general, it is best to avoid narcotic pain medication (Endone is a narcotic) for ongoing problems. If it cannot be avoided, the minimum dose is best. Having said that there are many forms of arthritis. The non surgical treatment best for you will depend upon the type of arthritis you have, which joint(s) are involved, your response to treatment thus far and any other medical problems. As you describe your pain as horrible, I suggest you talk to your GP about a referral to an appropriate specialist to discuss your particular situation and the options available for you.
