What causes Claustrophobia and to what extent can it be overcome?

Claustrophobia is often influenced by the person's past and especially childhood explicit and implicit memories. Often people with these symptoms of associating small places with panic and danger have had past traumatic experiences like being trapped or forgotten about in a locked room.Trying to unpair the stimulus (small spaces) is an important start by using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and specifically Exposure Therapy.
Relaxation and Mindfulness strategies are also very important

Often, finding the cause is extremely difficult. Hypnotherapy and regressing to one's birth can help identify the cause as it often starts as early as that. The good news is that whatever the cause, exposure therapy, CBT, relaxation and mindfulness are the best forms of treatment.
Conversely, spending years trying to identify the cause may not help at all in reducing the symptoms.

Panic disorders are exacerbated by extreme anxiety causing factors. Speaking with someone soon who is able to work effectively within this specific field or someone who treats Social Anxiety Disorders would benefit this particular.
Rational Emotive and Cognitive Behavioral therapies have been areas where I would be finding a therapist and counsellor. Self Actualisation is another favorite intervention with this particular intervention, but down the track, start with RET and CBT
